5 Outdoor activities you can do with family this summer!

With Summer fast approaching, there are many activities that we all can do while maintaining social distancing and enjoying the outdoors! Just don't forget your sunscreen!

  • Camping

  • Fishing

"Whether you want to catch a record-breaking walleye or are simply in need of a relaxing day on the pier, Minnesota state parks has the perfect fishing spot for you. Minnesota is consistently ranked as one of the best states in the country for fishing. Fishing is a fun activity for all ages. New to fishing? Learn how at an I Can Fish! workshop- equipment and bait are provided. Pack up your tackle, drop a bobber, and make some memories!" - Minnesota DNR

  • Birding

"Minnesota state parks and recreation areas provide and preserve a variety of bird habitats, from the bogs of Lake Bemidji State Park to the prairies of Blue Mounds State Park. Grab your binoculars and hit the trails!" - Minnesota DNR

  • Do a lap of Lake Bde Maka Ska

This is a simple but fun one, this lake provides a great opportunity to get outdoors without even leaving the city. It has great views, ample parking, and well kept trails. Grab your sunglasses and sunscreen and go!

  • Visit a State Park

"There are 75 Minnesota state parks and recreation areas ready for you to explore. Go camping, take a nature hike, pack a picnic...your adventure awaits, so grab a map and get outside!" - Minnesota DNR



This summer is a great opportunity to get out and take part in any of these activities which are free and can make for a great activity for people of any ages and any ability!
